PURCHASING ASSISTANT

CLASSIFICATION: Salaried

POSITION TYPE: Full-time

REPORTS TO: Director of Purchasing

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Monday – Friday/8:00 am to 5:00 pm

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:  Assist the Director of Purchasing with the daily functions of Onsite and Offsite Purchasing as related to Home Building.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Data Entry
  • Completing or drafting contracts as needed
  • Develop and issue Change Orders and Purchase Orders
  • Maintain a current vendor/sub-contractor list
  • Maintain updated and correct insurance information for all vendors/sub-contractors
  • Track contractor licenses for each trade
  • Effectively communicate with vendors/sub-contracts to provide information, updates
  • Obtain bids as requested
  • Research potential new resources as instructed
  • Modify scope of work per trade
  • Maintain all department files
  • Adherence to deadlines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Business or other related program, preferred
  • Experience with Construction Purchasing, preferred
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License and a Clean DMV Record, required

COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to take direction and execute detailed steps
  • Requires the ability to be a self-starter
  • Must possess strong writing, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Must be able to meet expectations and multiple deadlines
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Multi-tasking is a requirement
  • Must be focused and diligent in the execution of their daily tasks
